Join us for a variety of events this fall. In a recent TACG Member Meeting, we voted to submit three separate project proposals for two different local art festivals. All three proposals were accepted and we couldn’t be more excited.
First up, for sewists, spinners, and weavers, we’ll be at Fiber Fling on September 27. This community textile and fiber festival is hosted by the Job Carr Cabin Museum, located in Old Town Park, Tacoma WA. Fiber Fling runs Saturday only, 11-3. We hope to see our fellow fiber enthusiasts there!
Next up are two different events at Arts in the Armory, held Saturday and Sunday, November 15 and 16 from 11 am – 5 pm both days. Our first booth is a hands-on arts activity, block printing with traditional wooden blocks. Our second is a collaborative booth titles “Seven Women’s Work” which will offer the arts and crafts of several of our Members. Here is our artist statement for that event:
Seven women’s work reflects their organization’s belief in connection to—and through—art and craft. Hadiya Finley’s haunting sculptures and Nancy Aird’s sculptural baskets pull us into relationship with natural elements, while Randi Voss’s fanciful mixed-media ladies and Lois Eiler’s palm-sized gift journals evoke friendship and good will. Meanwhile, Bonnie Reis’s paper quilling and pergamano, along with Rivi Alch’s gentle crocheted bags, beautifully preserve traditional crafts, while Barb Turner’s exuberant ice-dyed accessories and Voss’s vintage quilts-turned-wearables imaginatively transform old vocations into new expressions.
Stay tuned for more info on all three!
